About

Our Field 725 Ethos…

Our Field 725 EthosWe look forward to your stay at Field 725. We believe in providing you with a close to nature experience that is relaxing, revitalizing and above all lots of fun.

Our model is that of the traditional French campsite with activities to enjoy, space to play and offering a distinctly family-friendly experience. The campsite is spacious and set in beautiful surroundings and we aim to maintain a balance between peace and a buzzing campsite life.

This is the kind of place where you’re welcome to light a fire (in a fire dish); have a BBQ; play your (acoustic) guitar or whatever else takes your fancy.

Why Field 725?

We searched long and hard for a name that worked. We’re all enthusiastic map lovers and so turned to scouring old maps for inspiration. It’s here we discovered that in historical Ordnance Survey maps up until the Second World War, the area of Critchill Manor Estate that we’re using was designated with the rather catchy moniker of Field 725. Somehow, it stuck with us!

As a fine coincidence, all Ordnance Survey maps have been produced in Frome for generations.

Location

Critchill Manor and Field725 Campsite can be found just outside Frome, Somerset on the road to the village of Nunney. The main access is via Critchill, which in turn is accessed from Nunney Road in Frome. Alternatively, you can access the site via the village of Nunney via Frome Road.

Cycling: If you wish to cycle to the venue check out the Sustrans map page (http://www.sustrans.org.uk/), entering BA11 4LJ in the ‘Search Our Mapping’ box. National Cycle Route 24 passes very close to the venue.

Public Transport: Head for Frome if you are coming by public transport. The nearest railway station is Frome, only 2.0 miles from the site. Frome has limited services and more regular trains run from Westbury or Castle Cary. Frome station has a taxi rank but quite limited facilities generally.

There are no bus services running through Critchill. However a minibus service, number 162, goes to Nunney via Frome where you can walk to the venue via footpath or road in about 35 minutes. The same service stops at Sainsburys in Frome where you can walk in about 30 minutes to the venue.

Details of the service can be found here: http://s101282612.websitehome.co.uk/frome

More services can be found online. We recommend taxis are booked in advance where possible, especially if wanted in the evening at weekends when there is high demand or on Sunday when there are less services running.

Driving to the site: If you use sat nav or a mapping service like Google Maps (https://maps.google.co.uk/) enter the postcode BA11 4LJ. This normally takes you directly to the gate.

If you look on Google Maps with that post code you will see a drive running north from Critch Hill (Google’s error, it’s actually ‘Critchill’) / Frome Road, with a lake. This is the driveway into the venue. The entrance to the driveway is flanked by large gateposts and is easy to identify. Follow the driveway up to the house and turn left towards the car park and Field725.

From A303 (Westbound): Come off the A303 at A36 Deptford towards Warminster. Continue on A36 until Warminster and then at roundabout take first exit on to A362. Follow the A362 for 5 miles into Frome and up Portway. At the junction with Christchurch St West, turn right towards Radstock. Take left onto Nunney Rd at junction featuring Co-op Stores / Whitstone Fish & Chips. Follow Nunney Rd out of town past Critchill School. Head down Critch Hill and turn right into Critchill Manor Estate.

From A303 (Eastbound): Come off the A303 at Podimore Roundabout, heading north on the A37. Follow this to the Shepton Mallet roundabout (look out for the stone sheep) then take the last exit towards the A361. After 1/2 mile turn right onto A361 towards Frome. After 7.5 miles at Nunney Catch Roundabout, take the second exit past the service station. Follow Frome Road through the village of Nunney and then proceed for 1.5 miles. Entrance is on your left.

From M4:  Take Junction 18 and then A46 south towards Bath. Through Bath take the A36 south towards Frome (other routes exist including toll bridge at Bathampton) for approximately 10 miles. At roundabout take second exit on to A361 towards Frome. At the next roundabout take second exit on to B3090 towards Oldford. Follow B3090 into Frome, past Hospital and all the way through Frome Town Centre. At the top of Bath Street, turn right on to Christchurch St West. Take left onto Nunney Rd at junction featuring Co-op Stores / Whitstone Fish & Chips. Follow Nunney Rd out of town past Critchill School. Head down Critch Hill and turn right into Critchill Manor Estate.

Access to Critchill is via Frome or Nunney. Both access routes are narrow in places and pass residential areas. Please drive carefully and with respect for residents! If you are driving from the local area please be considerate and avoid taking shortcuts through small lanes, we would like to avoid causing disruption and congestion to local people.
